Hosanna is a song we sing at the Well on a fairly regular basis. It is actually many people’s favorite.

Have you ever thought about what we are actually doing when we sing that song? We are participating in the John chapter 12 story. We are declaring blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord (John 12:13).  Hosanna in the highest!

The people in John 12 had seen the miracles and heard about raising Lazarus from the dead. They knew that Jesus was not an ordinary “prophet,” and ascribed words of worship towards him.

Of course, the events would turn and these very same people would soon want him dead, not realizing that what happenned to Lazarus was just a glimpse of the power of Christ over Satan, sin, and death.

I want to join the Biblical story and declare that He truly is the One. The King of Israel.
