I have never experienced a worhip service like tonight’s Christmas on the Moon. Like never, ever.
Matthew has some pictures and videos here.
We told the Christmas story from a different angle than the norm. We tried to focus on God’s holiness and our inability to stand before Him on our own merit…rather than focus on Mary, Joseph, no room in the Inn, etc. Not that those are bad things, they are obviously a huge part of the Christmas story. Our goal was to hit hard the reason why Christmas ever even happenned. The manger is pointless without a discussion about why the baby was born in the first place.
The entire night was about the Cross and being reconciled to God through Christ. We refused to waste our time harping on the “need to put Christ back in Christmas.”
Our band is amazing. What else can you say? Scott Simmons ability to put the band together and arrange music, the talent on stage, Todd Doss singing O Holy Night…it was crazy awesome good.
We collected a special offering to bring clean water for Christmas to Africans in great need. I thought Josh did a great job of leading us in that time of giving.
The highlight for me was having over 1100 people in one of Tallahassee’s most popular spots to hear about Jesus. Through music, Gwen’s wonderful monolouges, and Luke chapter 2, I am fully confident that God planted seeds in the hearts of many.
There were a lot of people who committed a large portion of their day to making The Moon happen. I pulled in the parking lot at around 2:00 and there were at least 25 cars. All Well peeps, working hard to prepare the place for 5:30. Awesome.
A special shout out to Wakulla Springs Baptist Church for sending a team to the Moon tonight to help in our Well Kids ministry. Our Well Kids staff works very hard and we wanted to give them a chance to experience the worship service. Thank you Wakulla for being such a great example to us about what it means to be kingdom-minded.
What a special night. I hate when people say “you had to be there to understand,” but you had to be there to understand. I did not feel like I was in Tallahassee. The prayer when we started the Well was for that feeling to be a reality.
For a Church that is less than 3 years old, this was amazing. The best thing? Without God’s hand on it…big deal. He moves or we do nothing.
December Schedule:
We will only be having our 11:05am service at Godby High School for the 3 Sundays left in December. Our 5:30pm service will crank back up on January 4th. Looking forward to a great December!
