It is great to be back in the city where Krissie and I spent our first two years of married life. We are staying on campus at one of our favorite places in the world, Southern Seminary.
We are here for the Southern Baptist Convention. Besides the churchy, out of touch, junk that comes with the SBC…things are going well.
Major props to the Pastor’s Conference for inviting Francis Chan to speak. He is so simple, so honest, so Biblical. He talked about what it would actually look like if we modeled community like the believers experienced in the book of Acts. An example he gave was that nobody would need life insurance because believers would take care of each others families and be there life insurance. Along with others in his Church, they canceled their policies and pledged to take care of each other.
Now that…is Christian. How far are we removed from that?
It was good to hear from SBC rock-star, Mike Huckabee.
I have also big time cleaned house in the bookstore and am set for months in the reading department.
I heard from many that God truly used Matthew Robinson last night. A great feeling for me to know that we have someone ready and able to preach the truth.
I miss Tommy. I missed the Well last night.
Time away is good and needed for us. Loving being in the Ville with Krissie and hanging with good friend, Jonathan and my mentor James Merritt.
