Random Thursdays

My old home of Southern Seminary in Louisville is out of power due to major snow and ice. I loved SBTS…but I am glad to be in Florida. Shout out to the former Floridians, the Smallwoods…freezing in the Ville.

This research from Brad Waggoner (Lifeway) is intense:

- Only 16 percent of Protestant churchgoers read their Bible daily and another 20 percent read it “a few times a week.”

- Just 23 percent “agreed strongly” with the statement, “When I come to realize that some aspect of my life is not right in God’s eyes, I make the necessary changes.”

-In the past six months, 29 percent of respondents said they shared with someone how to become a Christian twice or more, 14 percent did so once and 57 percent did not share at all.

My hope is that people are just as concerned with the fact that people aren’t sharing their faith as they are people not reading their Bibles. They are one in the same in my opinion.

Reading the Bible…should lead to sharing about Christ
If you are reading your Bible and not sharing Christ…what are you doing?

The scary one to me was the low percentage of people who make life changes when they think it might be displeasing to God. Geez.

I do think one of the biggest issues we face with Christians today is a VERY SMALL view of God. I think that is the reason for the above stats. Just my opinion

I am sitting down with a group of people tonight to plan out our worship services for the next month. Pretty pumped. We have a great group of peeps meeting together.

Basketball season is fun and all, but I am ready for pitchers and catchers to report!

The first FSU baseball games is just over 3 weeks away. Tommy and I will be in the house! He is really getting into hitting the ball of the tee.

This Sunday we are moving our service to 11:05am in honor of the Super Bowl. We will be back at 5:30pm the following weekend. Jill Phillips and Andy Gullahorn will be leading worship on 2/8/09. HUGE.
