Pretty cool. Check it out.
Weekend Preview
Halloween is here…when I was in middle school there was actually a group of parents that walked around in orange vests making sure people didn’t cause any trouble.
Krissie and I will use Halloween as:
1. A chance for Tommy to have a blast
2. A chance to connect with our neighbors.
College kiddies, remember your belief in Christ still matters on Halloween, St Patricks Day, New Years Eve, Spring Break, and your birthday.
It is amazing how many exception clauses have been created by students who claim to be believers.
Great football on this weekend. Huge game for my Canes at noon on Saturday. I will be flipping between FSU/GT and the worlds largest outdoor cocktail party after that.
At the Well this Sunday we will be looking at the 2nd half of James chapter two. The main ideas will be sorting out are: 1. what at first appears to be a tension between being saved by grace though faith, while that faith is called dead if it does not have works. 2. We will also look at the compatibility between belief and behavior. I am looking forward to a huge night. I know the band is ready to rock and has an awesome list of songs ready to go. 5:30pm, Sunday, Godby High School.
See you there.
We will know the next President in 5 days. I am the guy who stays up all night watching the election results. For the 2004 election, Louisville punter (and later FSU holder) Brent Moody and I stayed up till 3am in our apartment watching the coverage. For the 2000 election I went to sleep (pissed) thinking Gore had won.
Random Thursdays
Great staff meeting at Chick-Fil-A this morning. Christmas on the Moon is only 5 weeks away. We got fired up about it this morning.
I am loving this weather. I don’t like it any colder than it is right now though.
Abbie Stubblefield is going to be Sarah Palin for Halloween. How awesome is that? Her sister Ellie is in 5th grade…so she is sort of in anti dressing up mode, so she would give no info on her costume at community group last night. I think she should be Nancy Pelosi…no I do not mean dress up as a witch…
I was Curious George one year in Elementary School and my mom actually made the costume.
Tommy is all set to be a fireman. The costume was actually Aunt Sally’s. I will be a Miami Hurricane football player (Kellen Winslow jersey and hutch plastic helmet). Go Canes!
What i am listening to these days:
The Red Balloon by Sandra McCracken
Nobodys Got It All Together by Jill Phillips
Rock of Ages by the Band
Minutes to Midnight by Linkin Park
All some seriously good stuff.
Coach Joe Labs and the Well’s home team, the Godby Cougars play at Madison tomorrow night. Madison has already pre-sold 3,000 tickets. The game is on ESPNU! Go Cougs! Random fact…Godby’s namesake, Amos P. Godby, coached football at Leon…remember…everything in Tally goes back to THE school.
Make sure you make it back from the GaTech game in time for the Well Sunday night! Everyone have a great trip and watch out for that running game.
Community Groups
I love community groups at the Well. You are seriously missing out if you are not in one.
I am part of Marty Stubblefield’s group and also lead a group of young adult guys.
These community groups are important because:
-it allows for discussion in a smaller setting
-a time of prayer together as a group
-the opportunity to make new friends and build relationships
-a time of Biblically driven discussion
-a time to be honest about struggles and grow together
It is a very important thing we do.
I am not a Rays fan, but am REALLY not a Phillies fan. Blah.
The Rays lost 96 games last year and won 97 this year. Wow…wonder if McCain can make that kind of turnaround after having the worst campaign ever.
Shout out to Krissie’s favorite blogger, Ainsley Arment for going to the New Kids on The Block Concert in Atlanta tonight. Gotta admit that I would go if I had tickets. That was painful to go public with.
Shout out to my parents for having Tommy at the house so Krissie and I could go on a date!
Top 10 College Baseball Stadiums
I am a huge college baseball fan. I actually probably like it even more than college football. For those of you that care…here is a list I found of the top 10 college baseball stadiums.
Enjoy!
